Public Infrastructure: In coordination with the NGOs buildings for schools, a primary health centre, Anganwadis, libraries, community halls and internal roads are being taken up in the affected area. The details are available elsewhere in this website.

At present there is only one Road Bridge connecting Alappad Panchayat with the main land across T.S.Canal at the 11th ward. Hence, in order to improve the connectivity, the Government have now sanctioned two more road bridges at wards III and IX.

The construction of the bridge at ward no.3 has already been started and the work is in progress. Further, Government have permitted Matha Amrithanandamayi Math to construct a foot bridge at ward no. 6 across the T.S.Canal.

Government have also sanctioned construction of Sea Walls in the Tsunami affected areas so as to protect the precious lives of people from the onslaught of the tidal waves. The Major Irrigation Department has started the work and the work is in good progress.
